Background
Select Web Group was formed from the need for web users to have the straight service everyone deserves.
Our experience and IT skills base goes back to the 1980's with the group domains registered from 2003 onwards, and first group satellite site established in 2014 by the founder, Miles.
For far too long, numerous large corporations have in our view taken advantage of individual customers who trust them and use their services. These corporations often take over and try to duplicate (or sometimes degrade) businesses that provided decent service before takeover. The customer can then commonly be left with a reduced choice of suppliers, higher prices, and/or the privilege of 'swimming around as a relatively smaller fish in a larger, murky pond'.
In a world where falsity, distraction and ambiguity are rife, we always strive to provide to customers a clear and honest 'umbrella' from all of this.
Service
With our sites you get stable, professional and innovative service without the BS or wasteful bloat. Our ethical services were never (and will never be) based on corporate greed, cronyism or nepotistic values, but firmly based on the true merits of technical expertise, innovation and experience accrued over decades - all topped with a genuine personal respect for the customer, who is never 'hoodwinked' or treated as just an ID.
We are sometimes 'a bit old-school', but only after assimilating the latest innovative technologies and having the experience, judgement and resolve to adopt the best, but reject the worst. The next 'bright idea' is not always best for customers. We will never cooperate in 'helping' to guide customers down the wrong path just to make an 'extra buck' or to fit in with the latest, 'buzzwords' or 'designated trends'. We just reject that type of business.
Visibility in Search Engines
You have obviously found us, but you may or may not find us listed anywhere near the top of search results since it seems that some of the best services are no longer prominently listed that way. We will just have to 'console ourselves' with the many hundreds of visitors regularly complimenting our service when they find us, and the top international and national awards received, based upon merit. Unlike us, many services do pay to 'jump the queue' in search engines or buy 'likes' in social media. (We get offers to do it every day!)
Our view is that this commonly wastes people's time and robs visitors of finding the best services while also inflating bills for customers. Ignoring the other 'ever changing hoops' and unstable controlling conditions, the additional marketing cost obviously has to be added to the amount charged for those services.
We have also noticed that these 'top sites' from some main search engine results commonly seem to require or extract more of your personal data, as you are then more likely to be opted-in by default and/or with 'legitimate interest', or it made much more difficult by design for you to refuse 'your' personal 'data-giveaway' 'choices'. So rather than you just searching for and maybe buying a product or service, you can actually become 'the product', as 'you voluntarily' pass your data to all the data-hungry partners. And just because you trusted the search engine to search for what you need.
Perhaps it is unchecked corporate greed facilitated by a fat, self-interested, incompetent (or even corrupt) state which is the real cause of the decline in living standards for very many?
Present Day and Future
In any event, the simple aim of Select Web Group was always to provide a straightforward unified group of select satellite sites that customers can trust to provide quality services on the web.
So that was what we did.
Several main parts of the group have received recent national and international awards, including for development and web design as we continue to offer first rate IT services to customers.
The future will involve much more of the same while innovating and embracing the best new technologies, but only if they genuinely benefit customers. The group will continue to grow in a controlled, organic fashion and appropriately deal with any degrading, negative entities (whatever their size).
